Susan E. Ford Student Research Grant

The Susan E. Ford Student Research Grant is a competitive grant established in 2024 awarded annually to recognize excellence in the areas of bivalve or crustacean mechanisms of defense against microbial and parasitic infection, including serum, mucus, and cellular processes for recognition, mitigation, or destruction of infective agents, reflective of Susan Ford’s research interests.  Susan was an Honored Life Member and served the NSA for several decades, was a highly respected researcher, and was instrumental in establishing the inclusion of the NSA and the JSR with BioOne.  NSA student members can apply for non-travel-related expenses associated with research toward a Master or Ph.D. degree. The award is granted annually, with applications due November 1 each year, and students can apply or receive the award more than one time.
